Privacy policy
This privacy policy explains how personal data is handled when you visit conturian.com or contact Conturian. It is based on the functionality of this static website. Hosting and company particulars must be confirmed before publication.
1. Controller and contact
The controller within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Conturian
Email: info@conturian.com
2. Website access and server log files
When you visit the website, your browser connects to our hosting provider. Technical data may be processed, including IP address, date and time of access, requested pages or files, HTTP response status, data volume, referrer (if transmitted), browser version, operating system and similar technical information. These data are necessary to deliver pages reliably, troubleshoot errors and safeguard website and server security.
To the extent personal data are involved, processing generally relies on our legitimate interests in providing a secure and functional website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Logs are deleted or anonymised once no longer needed for these purposes, unless retention is required for investigating security incidents or legal obligations.
3. Enquiries and email correspondence
When you contact us by email, we process the details you send, such as name, email address, organisation, message and any attachments, in order to respond and communicate with you. If an enquiry concerns pre-contractual measures or an existing agreement, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR; for other general enquiries, it is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in answering enquiries and maintaining business relationships).
The contact form on this website does not submit information to our server: it opens a prepared message in your own email application. Your email provider and our email provider may process message data under their respective arrangements. Messages are retained for as long as needed to process the matter and any mandatory statutory retention periods, and then deleted.
4. Cookies, local storage and language selection
As delivered, this website does not use analytics, advertising pixels, external font services or marketing cookies. It uses your browser language to offer an English or German page. If you actively switch language, the chosen code ("en" or "de") is stored locally in your browser under the key conturian-language using localStorage so future visits honour your selection. A dismissed language suggestion is recorded for the current session via sessionStorage (conturian-lang-dismissed). These settings are read locally by website scripts; the script does not transmit the preference to our servers. The homepage also stores the index of the last locally selected background film under conturian-home-video-last, solely to display a different film on the next homepage visit. This value is kept in your browser and is not used for tracking or sent to a third party.
The settings support the language service you select. You can remove them in your browser settings at any time. Access to or storage in your device is also subject to Section 25 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG); whether the exemption for strictly necessary functions applies should be checked against the live deployment. If optional tracking or third-party tools are added, their use and any required consent mechanism must be reassessed.
5. Locally hosted media and other resources
Fonts, images, the favicon and the muted, looping homepage and About Us background videos are delivered from the website’s own hosting environment. Video playback does not require a connection to an external streaming service. Requests for these files are technically comparable to other website file requests and may be reflected in server access logs as described above.
6. Service providers and international transfers
Service providers (such as hosting and email infrastructure operators) may process personal data on our behalf insofar as required to operate the website and handle correspondence. Where legally required, processing is subject to appropriate contractual safeguards. Any transfer of personal data to countries outside the European Economic Area requires an appropriate legal basis and safeguards under Chapter V GDPR.
7. Retention and security
Personal data is stored only as long as necessary for its stated purpose or to comply with statutory duties. We apply suitable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. When the website is served over HTTPS, transfer between your browser and the webserver is encrypted. Please note that ordinary email may not be end-to-end encrypted.
8. Your data protection rights
Subject to statutory conditions, you may request access (Article 15 GDPR), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction (Article 18), data portability (Article 20), and object to certain processing (Article 21). If processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future (Article 7(3)). In particular, you may object to processing based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for reasons relating to your particular situation.
To exercise your rights, contact us using the details above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority (Article 77 GDPR).
9. Requirement to provide information; automated decisions
You are generally not obliged to provide personal data merely to browse the published pages, except for technical data needed to establish the connection. If you contact us, we need enough information to respond. As delivered, this website does not perform profiling or automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.
10. Changes to this notice
We may update this policy if our website, services or legal requirements change. Please refer to the version published on this page.
